Why Assemble and Pray?

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.                            Acts 4:31 NKJV

God calls his people to come together and pray. Prayer releases the power of God on the earth, in order to change the things that need to be changed. Surely we can all agree that great change is needed throughout the earth.

Change comes when God releases His kingdom influence on the earth. God moves in this way when His people pray.

God’s power was poured out upon the disciples of Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost when they were assembled together and praying. This changed them into able ministers of the Gospel, and on that day 3000 souls were saved. (Acts 2)

The apostles continued coming together, praying, and preaching the Gospel wherever they went. The power of God was with them, lives were changed, and people turned to the Lord.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.   (Acts 2:42-43) NKJV

Pray for a move of God in your city!

Now it came to pass as Peter went throughout all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. There he found a certain man named Aeneas who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. So ALL who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. (Acts 9:32-35)

Did you see that?

Peter, who continued in prayer with the other apostles as we read in Acts 2, ministered the Word of God to Aeneas and God performed a miracle and ALL who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw it and turned to the Lord.

God intends for us to continue this same pattern of living today. Assemble together, pray for a move of God and watch whole cities come to Jesus.

Our cities need a move of God. Our Nation needs a move of God.

How about your neighborhood? Is there a need for a move of God in your neighborhood? What about your family? Do you know people who need Jesus? Do you know people who need healing and restoration? A move of God can meet all these needs completely.

God moves when people pray. He promises that if we draw near to him, he will draw near to us. God wants to move in your city. Cry out to God in prayer and join others who are doing the same.

If you are not getting together with God’s people to pray now, start doing so. Check with your local church and see if there is a prayer meeting you can attend. If there is not one, pray and ask God to show you what to do. Maybe he would have you start one.

If you are able to attend our “Assemble For Prayer” meetings please do so. Check the website for upcoming prayer meetings, and sign up for email alerts so that you will be informed when meetings are scheduled.
